Reporting

It's unmistakable when it happens -- that "Aha" moment when a business partner sees for the first time (on-screen or in-print) a uniquely helpful management tool that we've created for them. This interaction represents our company's highest purpose -- arming decision makers with better quality information.

It's at these moments you feel the acceleration and greater confidence of your decision making process. When those moments occur, we know we've helped you "boost the return on your data investment."

Those moments are the culmination of a process that starts by interviewing you so that we can understand the challenge. The overall process for us is part science and art. The science/technical parts are pretty evident. This does involve computers after all. The artistic aspect is:

  • listening / interpreting the needs of end-users,
  • sensitivity to what information is "noise" versus what has value,
  • thoughtful presentation of content in a way the minds-eye can digest.

Consider the analogy to the Soduku puzzle at right. What is the definitive, best answer to this particular Soduku puzzle? You can't say, because their are multiple valid answers. At times you may have this same sensation in your business. You feel there must be an optimal adjustment, but you don't have enough information to form the answer. As part of our overall services, we can help you fill in more of the Soduku grid, and arm you to take informed decisions.

Reporting Service Variations

These are tabular style reports that may offer drill-down or drill-through capabilities. They are created using SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), PowerBI, R or Microsoft Access. These can be deployed in multiple different environments including SharePoint.
These reports are typically more visually complex, often incorporating dials / gauges and other widgets to quickly convey specific performance metrics. They give at-a-glance summaries of key performance indicators.
These are typeset quality projects that are print-ready with pagination, headers and footers. These can be product catalogs or other large publications. They may be combination of database reporting tools with MS Word or other desktop publishing tools.

Provided at right are scenarios and tools that further explain the reporting tasks. Let us know if we can help you with a similar task.
